Location

Sitges is located in the Spanish Mediterranean coast, 35 Km south of Barcelona. It has an area of 43.7 Km2 with a height over the sea level of 10 meters. We find the town in the southern end of the Massif of El Garraf, a mountain range of calcareous rock that occupies a surface of 312 Km2 and during many years has been a natural barrier between Barcelona and Sitges.

By Road
The C-32 freeway (earlier known as A-16) joints Sitges with Barcelona in 30 minutes, and with Tarragona in 45 minutes. There is a freeway access to the freeway AP-7 in Vilafranca, that in North direction, arrives until the Junquera and connects with the network of European freeways, and in South direction with the rest of Spanish freeways.

By Train
Sitges has very good connections with Barcelona and Tarragona by means of the RENFE suburban train service. Approximately every 15 minutes there is a train that in a 30 minutes journey connects Sitges with Barcelona. The new service of trains connects Sitges with Barcelona directly. From Barcelona Sants there are daily train departures towards the rest Spain and Europe. A high speed train line links Barcelona with Madrid many times a day in only 3 hours and the connection of this line with the European high speed train network will be a reality soon.

By Airplane
The Barcelona International Airport, the Prat, is 28 Km north of Sitges. The airport operates with the great majority of airline companies. Many daily flights link Barcelona with the rest of cities of Spain and Europe, as well as with of other continents. The airlift guarantees a continuous connection with Madrid. From Sitges, it is possible to reach the airport by train. Every thirty minutes there are trains that unite the Sitges station with the Prat Llobregat station where a train can be taken that arrives until the same airport. The same route also can be done in the opposite direction: from the airport to the Prat de Llobregat and from the Prat de Llobregat to Sitges. On the other hand, it is also possible to reach the Airport from Sitges  through the freeway C-32 (earlier known as A-16) or by the C-31 highway (earlier known as C-246).

Climate

As consequence of a  privileged emplacement, Sitges enjoys a soft and hot climate, which produce moderate winters and favaorable summers. The kindness of this climate is due to the fact that the village is near the sea and sheltered by the Mazizo del Garraf, which with its height blocks the way to the cold winds of the North and Northwest and of the strong wind streams of the interior.
